Shuttle does a one-up on ASUS with the release of X50

ASUS created quite a lot of waves with the release of the ASUS Eee Top touchscreen PC that was unique and provided performance keeping the price in check. It seemed that ASUS would remain alone in this race for quite some time, but Shuttle responded with the X50 that seems to have more similarities with the competition that would be attributed to only coincedence.

For all those who are interested, it has a 15.6″ screen boasting of 1366X768 resolution which implies a 16:9 resolution. Driving it is a 1.6GHz Intel Atom 330 processor along with 1GB of RAM. The main areas of difference lie in the storage capacity which stands at 160GB for the ASUS and 80GB for the X50 and surprisingly enough the price. The Shuttle will set you back by $499 which is almost a $100 cheaper than ASUS. Already lot of different opinions are being heard all over. Some love the idea, some absolutely detest it but we feel that it could serve quite well as a low power consuming PC ideal for uses like surfing and chatting.
