Rumours about job cuts by MS on Jan 15th

There have been conflicting reports all over the web about the proposed layoffs by Microsoft. Apparently, there are going to be a huge layoffs on Jan 15th. These reports may have some ground since Microsoft is going to release its Q2 Earnings report on January 22nd. Worldwide Microsoft employs around 90,000 people and rumors suggest upto 17% job cuts in the company. This is going to have serious implications for the company and the shareholders as well.

Insiders are quite apprehensive and though there is no specific information as to which regions will be affected the most by the job cuts, there have been indications that MSN staff may have to suffer a bit. Fortunately for folks at the XBox 360, due to uninspiring sales of the PS3 this year, they may not lose many of their people. Most of the cuts are reported to be in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
