Corsair enters the SSD market with the S128
Categories: Desktops

After the launch of SSDs and their inclusion as an option in every configuration, it was inevitable that Corsair would jump into the bandwagon soon with their own release. The company has just launched their first SSD, christened the S128. Primarily targeted at the mainstream market, this SSD packs a powerful punch with its capacity of 128GB.
The read and write speeds are comparatively somewhat conservative at 90MB/sec and 70MB/sec respectively. However, Corsair reps tell us that there is more to the story. The new S128 are present with a Samsung controller instead of the oft favoured JMicron 602 controller. The benefits of this are quite evident since the Samsung is proven to be more reliable in many tests as compared to the JMicron controller (which has shown lesser write speeds as compared to the quoted speeds). Corsair promises that their SSDs will provide a constant performance no matter what, though at more cost than the other drives based on the JMicron controller.
There is no details as to when it will be launched officially in the U.S, but you can snatch one for yourself at NCIX for $335
